Can you imagine Joni Mitchell meets the Dixie Chicks? Uxbridge's own Poor Tom plays at the Foster Memorial this Friday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. If you make it to one concert at this unique venue this year, check out this local duo of Susan Luke and Wanda Stride. Playing their own fusion of folk, traditional Celtic and rock, their sound is all their own, and seems to be created just for the soaring acoustics of the Foster Memorial. Known best for their creative harmony vocals, Susan and Wanda play seven instruments between the two of them: their sound is always changing, always inspiring. Original songs are inspired by everyday life; drawing images from motherhood, marriage, life as a teacher and life as a United Church minister, even Facebook has influenced their writing. This Friday they expect to play all the favourites from their first CD, "A Dream Like Yours," but they plan to premier a few new songs as well, to appear on a CD expected to be released early next year. For more information about Poor Tom, please check out their web site http://www.poortom.ca/ . The Foster Memorial is located on Main Street, just north of the Sandford Sideroad.
